Thinking Theology: Burkina Faso (February 2016)

After the success of Thinking Theology: Bangladesh, we hosted a Thinking Theology gathering in Burkina Faso in February 2016. Some 126 people from across francophone Africa gathered for a four-day conference conducted in French. Delegates came from ten different countries: Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, DRC, Liberia, Benin, France, Mali, Togo and the UK.

The four days consisted of plenary talks, panel discussions and workshops, supporting delegates to think about how we can be the salt of the earth.

‘You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.’ (Matthew 5:13)

Key topics included:

  • the church’s call to integral mission
  • cultural norms
  • creation care
  • gender
  • human flourishing, and what a flourishing life looks like
  • how to keep Christ at the centre of everything we do
