This book contains 12 reflections on what the Bible tells us about jubilee by theological thinkers from different parts of the world, and 38 Bible studies published by Tearfund over the years that are relevant to the theme of jubilee.

The jubilee laws allowed for a new beginning in every generation. Every 50 years land was to be restored to its original owners, debts cancelled and slaves set free. When Jesus read from the book of the prophet Isaiah in Luke 4:18–19, he proclaimed that the year of the Lord’s favour – the year of jubilee – had come. In Jesus we can experience a ‘jubilee’.
