This report is based on findings from our partner Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) in Uganda. It was written in conjunction with the Institute for Development Studies at Sussex University, with funding from Making All Voices Count.

The research focused on the role that local churches in Uganda play in five key parameters:

  • transparency
  • citizen empowerment
  • exclusion and inclusion
  • government responsiveness
  • power dynamics

Findings demonstrate that the church often provides an effective space to strengthen local governance and accountability to local communities by bridging the gap between communities and government.
