This paper explores the work of local churches in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience building as evidenced in peer-reviewed, published literature.

It identifies the main roles churches have played in disaster response, recovery, mitigation and preparedness, as well as opportunities for the church to play a larger role.

This resource can be used by Tearfund staff who engage with a range of external stakeholders – such as funding agencies, peer agencies and think tanks – as well as employees of those agencies.
