We offer self-led and facilitated courses, each course varies in length and the time it will take to complete. You can find out how long each course takes on the course page. However, it is important to note that:

• Self-led courses can be completed in your own time. There is no deadline for when these courses have to be completed, so you can take the course at your own pace and in more than one session. Usually self-led courses take between 30 minutes to 4 hours to complete.
• Facilitated courses are scheduled and have a set start and end date. You will need to register for these before the start date to get a place on the course. Facilitated courses are also longer, and can take 6 to 10 weeks to complete. 

Our courses are designed for anyone who wants to learn and develop their skills in international development. They are designed primarily for adults and some of the content may not be suitable for children. You do not require any qualifications to take a course.

• All our self-led courses are free! We think it’s important to make our courses as accessible as possible.
• For our facilitated courses there may be a charge, this is to cover the cost of the facilitator’s time and additional work. Any cost will be made clear on the course page.

We are committed to equipping all those who are working with communities, and recognise that budgets are tight. Therefore, we have worked hard to reduce the costs of our courses where we can.

To take any of our courses, you will need to sign up and create a login for our online learning site. This will allow you access to your chosen course whenever you like, and will also show you other courses available to you from Tearfund Learn.

Yes, if you complete one of our courses you will get a Tearfund Learn certificate to recognise your achievement.
