What we do

Tearfund is a Christian international development and humanitarian organisation with more than 50 years’ experience. We work in over 50 countries worldwide, in partnership with communities, churches and local organisations.

Our approaches

Tearfund has three main ways of working: 

• Advocacy and influencing
  We seek to influence the global church and governments to bring about fair and just policies and structures at a local, national and global level. 
• Community development
  We work, where possible, through the local church, empowering communities to lift themselves out of poverty. 
• Humanitarian response
  We respond to disasters and conflicts, always seeking to reach those in greatest need.

Working in partnership

Tearfund works in partnership with communities, churches and local organisations in more than 50 countries. Our country teams use their expertise and local knowledge to decide which organisations we partner with, and establish partnership agreements in order to effectively deliver our programmes.

We select partners based on how they can contribute to the achievement of the Tearfund Country Strategy. This strategy is designed to make the best use of both Tearfund’s and our partners’ resources in responding to the needs of those living in poverty.
