Linking climate, environment, food, water and disasters – Activity

A game to show how many of the problems communities face are connected to each other

2015 Available in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish

A woman walks through a field near her village in Tanzania

From: Reveal toolkit: Climate and environment

Tools that explain climate change and environmental degradation and help communities to protect and care for their environment and adapt to a changing climate

This game splits a group into four teams to think about one big issue that they might face as a community: climate and environmental change; lack of food; lack of water; or disasters. Each team then decides which of 18 different problems are caused by the big issue that they have been given to think about.

Once the teams compare their responses, they should find them to be quite similar. A facilitator then explains how these problems are all linked.
