Tearfund is committed to equitable access to water and sanitation which is sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible, sustainable and affordable. Hygiene promotion leading to sustained behavioural change should also be integral to any water and sanitation project.

These guidelines include the principles of good water, sanitation and hygiene practice. They also discuss the importance of sensitivity in the areas of gender, conflict, the environment, children and HIV.
