Dissemination and impact of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) national reports in Peru

A paper on how EITI reports were shared in communities and how this impacted accountability for the management of oil, gas, and mineral resources

2013 Available in English

This study finds that the publishing and sharing of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) national reports in Peru is yet to make a noticeable impact in promoting transparency, public debate, and accountability for the money gained from these industries. The main problems with the sharing of these documents are:

  • poor communication
  • lack of attendance at dissemination meetings
  • irrelevant content
  • insufficient understanding of the local contexts

The paper includes recommendations to improve the impact of the EITI national reports.
