Advocacy resources

Resources to help community members influence decision makers and address systems & policies that perpetuate poverty

At a glance

Advocacy work is about helping community members to influence key decision-makers on policies and practices and to address the underlying causes of poverty.

Many of our advocacy resources are practical guides on how to become an effective advocate for change. Tearfund’s Advocacy toolkit is an inclusive and comprehensive training material on the theory and practice of advocacy. It provides teaching, training and tools on the essentials of advocacy work, including how to identify an issue, take appropriate action, and monitor and evaluate the response.

The Footsteps edition on Community-led advocacy focuses on how effective group advocacy and movements can be. It shares practical tools and ideas for how community members and local organisations can work together to address issues that affect their lives.
