Tearfund’s team in East and Central Africa (ECA) responded to the Covid-19 crisis through various country-specific response projects to lessen the effect of the pandemic in Burundi, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Rwanda and South Sudan.

Some of these projects were new, and others were embedded within existing ongoing projects that needed to be adapted to the contextual realities of Covid-19.

A wide range of stakeholders participated in these responses – including local government leaders, health professionals, community workers, faith leaders, opinion leaders, people being supported by the projects, programme partners and others – which showcases the power of collaboration and localisation.

This report summarises the impact of Tearfund ECA's Covid-19 response work and serves  as a building block for future responses to crises.
